Iraqi Central Bank to link with 7500 financial institutions: governor

BAGHDAD -- The governor of the Iraqi Central Bank said they will use a system for the bank to link with more than 7500 financial institutions in 200 countries, said local newspaper Sunday Al Nahdha.
Sinan AL Shibibi said the system known as the Social International Guaranteed Communication is used to sending financial messages for the central banks and big commercial banks, including the US federal reserves which keeps the Iraqi development funds.
The banks use the system for international payments around the world. The joining of the Iraqi Central Bank represented a big leap for modernizing the activities of the bank, said Shibibi.
